2 days shy of 10 months…

After 9 months, 3 weeks and 5 days, He crawled.

At this point I no longer thought that it would happen, as a matter of fact in a selfish way I wished it didn’t because he was so mobile being immobile that I was afraid of what true mobility would bring. In addition to that, he had a pretty good ability to hold onto furniture and walk around that I really thought he would be one of those who skipped the crawling phase and go straight to walking. Not that I wanted that either as it scared me last night when I put him to sit down in our walk in closet as I tried to find something to wear to work and the next thing I knew I felt something that felt like hair grazing a little above my knees only to look down and see Jarrett standing up holding onto my laundry hamper. It was so cute and sweet and amazing to see him smiling up at me. I was so proud of him, as he was in himself. At that moment, I was like Wow, I’m a mom to this little baby who is growing up so tremendously fast who I can barely believe is now 10 months old. Only days ago it seems, I was waiting for my cesarean section to happen and a little boy was loaned to Marvin and I. Sorry for the sentiment, but I am really just very thankful that I am blessed with the opportunity to be Jarrett’s mom.

This is his first crawl (well sort of) after a couple of tries and me running to get the camera.

This is on his 10 month birthday, he had been crawling all day and had taken pictures and was tired and all he wanted to do was go to sleep.

say woof, i laugh

The month's update wouldn't be complete without a video of the little Mr.

moving on up

Jarrett is spending a lot of time trying to stand up. As a matter of fact, all day long he wants us to help him stand up. I don't mind but we've always got to be right behind him making sure he doesn't fall right back down. He has gotten pretty good at falling down though, as he falls he props himself pretty well where he ends up just falling into a sitting situation.

Jarrett now has 5 teeth, 3 up top and 2 on the bottom. He enjoys eating mashed potatoes, small pasta bits and various Gerber finger foods.

What else is going on with Jarrett? He's still a strong little boy who is extremely smart and inquisitive and he is spending his time showing us how wonderful it is to be his parents.

And now some pictures of my baby from the last month. Enjoy .......

jarrett has a new cousin

Jarrett is in Arizona visiting his second cousin Franceline who was born on January 10, 2008 at 5:47pm. Franceline is the daughter of Joyceline and Franklin. She is a cutie and Jarrett is enjoying visiting with her. I'm not quite sure Jarrett knows she's a human being, but he's enjoying watching her little actions and hearing her little cries. Oh, the good ole days!

Jarrett turned 8 months yesterday. Jarrett's current goal in life is to reach for everything and anything he can get his hands onto (and believe me that's a lot). He is also VERY interested in what we are eating and has very good control of spoons and forks and cups. He will take any one of those items from my plate or the table and attempt to feed himseslf.

Last weekend Jarrett stood all by himself (with the help of the table). Maybe that's a little exaggerated. Hmmm, ok, I was sitting next to Jarrett holding him and I placed him to hold the table and he was able to stand all by himself for quite a bit, long enough for me to get my camera and take a picture of him. Ok, I think that's a better recollection of what occurred :)

Oh, I forgot to add this a couple of weeks ago, but he loves to say hi and bye to people with his hands. If someone waves at him to say hi or bye, he will wave back, he also will sometimes give me 5 when he is the mood.

Thought it would be nice to go through some of Jarrett's nicknames since he's been born.

Jarrett 'The Destroyer' - after he took 2 laptop keypads off the laptop while typing.

Jarrett 'Bam Bam' - because he's srong like Bam Bam Rubble. I remember when Jarrett was in the tummy, his kicks used to cause me hours of pain and now that he's out his legs are extremely strong and his arms can lift up things you wouldn't think babies would have the ability to lift.

Little Tom Jones - he looks just like my dad sometimes. He even has an email address littletomjones@gmail.com if you want to send him a note.

Jarrett 'Hurricane' - when he was little, he had the ability to cry loud. One night while my mom was spending the night, there were a few minor earthquakes, my mom came in to ask if we felt the earthquake and I answered no, but we did just have a hurricane go through (describing Jarrett's cries).

Jarrett 'The Little One' - when he was a tiny one.
