22 months and counting
Unfortunately there hasn't been enough time to do posts more frequently because we are too busy figuring out Jarrett's sleep schedule or running after him or stopping him from doing something he shouldn't be doing. Jarrett is very capable of doing things that I don't think someone twice his age should be able to do. He's super strong and can lift every thing including tables, chairs, you name it. He has a very determined personality which is not surprising in a 2 year old.
Jarrett's favorite things at the moment: Anything Mickey Mouse related (since I know he loves Mickey Mouse I went to Home Depot and got the Disney paint chips, they are in the shape of the Mickey Mouse head in numerous colors - each day I give him a new color when I pick him up from the sitter - he loves getting a new 'gift' each day and I get to teach him a new color a day - for free!!!); hiding everything under the dining room table; playing under the dining room table; playing outside; playing outside in the dirt; he still loves going out for walks; finding the moon; 'reading' books; eating all types of vegetables; laughing hysterically at 'Pingu' the penguin.

months are flying by
Wow, the month of February flew by in a flash. I didn't even get a chance to make any posts. Jarrett has been 10 handfuls over the last couple of months. In order to tell me what he wants he has this piercing, shrieking, LOUD sound that he uses to communicate which as you can guess can be somewhat nervewracking. Over the last couple of months, Jarrett's sleep has had absolutely no structure which has been a bit tough in figuring out our days but we are chugging along. We are having a blast with him and enjoying each day thoroughly with him. We look at him in amazement and cannot believe that he wasn't even in our lives 2 years ago.
What he loves: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Play with me Sesame, Going on walks, Playing outside, Climbing on furniture, Turning on TVs, Eating veggies

celebrating 20 months
Enjoying a Saturday afternoon at the park
Jarrett took the rest area literally. We went up to the mountains so Jarrett could play in the snow, but there was no snow and Jarrett fell asleep on our drive up, so that trip was a flop :(
This is the first exhibit Jarrett saw when we walked into the Long Beach Aquarium. He was in awe with all the fish.

Enjoying the sea lion - the little girl is enjoying watching Jarrett enjoy the sea lion.
Don't ask me who the other kid is because I have no idea, but Jarrett was making friends - the funny thing about this was that at the same time he was making friends he was also putting his foot into the shark lagoon. I had to quickly pull his wet shoes, socks and pants out and go dry him out. I think the making friends part was intended to be a distraction for me :)
This would have been a cute picture if Jarrett's eyes were open, oh well!

After Jarrett threw his phone into the fountain, all he could do was watch. I guess he didn't realize that when you throw things away, there's a possibility you might not get it back. Since Mommy and Daddy always retrieve his things, he didn't realize it was even a possibility. Eventually I did go to Customer Service and Security went into the fountain to get Jarrett his phone back.
The ducks are enjoying seeing the color of Jarrett's phone in their pond.

March of Dimes support
On May 3, 2009, Marvin, Jarrett and I will walk for babies. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
More specifically, we will be walking for Baby Sterling (born on June 4, 2004 at 1 lb 1 oz.) and for Baby Serena (born on February 14, 2005 at 1 lb 1 oz). Both babies were born too early due to an incompetent cervix.
Please help support the March of Dimes so that medical research, solutions and alternatives can be found so that babies won't be born prematurely and for those who are, that the care will be there to help them survive.

happy new year
Our family wishes you and your family a wonderful 2009. Here are pictures from our Winter break. Enjoy!
One of the first signs he saw as we walked into Sea World. He was very excited.
Meeting Elmo - he was scared at first, later we realized how humongous Elmo must have seemed to him in person. He has a Tickle Me Elmo doll that is about a foot in length and when he sees him on tv, he's a couple of inches, so we understood the nervousness.
Meeting Zoe.
A little apprehensive about meeting Bert and Ernie.
Scared when he first met Cookie Monster.
Jarrett loves his corn, here he is at Sea World with his favorite yellow vegetable.

Eating a lemon - he has a fascination with the taste of lemons - maybe it's a yellow thing.

Inside the bag are 2 fish and 1 frog, they were going to be Jarrett's first pets. As soon as we put them in the aquarium they died, not sure what we did wrong, but the fish only lived one day with us :(
